## Abstract The lowest eigenvalues of Frohlich's Hamiltonian with a magnetic field are approximately determined by solving the eigenvalue problem of an effective Hamiltonian for a polaron in a magnetic field. The effective Hamiltonian can be diagonalized without approximations, and the eigenvalue p
