✦ Synopsis

In Figure 2 the dependence of the critical current density on the alloy composition is showri for magnetic fields of 0, 2-5, 5, and 10 kOe. From the fact that je remains nearly constant for the alloys containing /> 40 per cent bismuth we may conclude (taking into account the simplified phase diagram) that even a small amount of pure bismuth phase is sufficient to stabilize the transport current. (In reference 2 the ratio of pure bismuth to superconducting e phase was 0.2 in a 40 per cent bismuth alloy and increased to 0"8 in an alloy with 60 per cent bismuth).
