โฆ Synopsis
A favorable opportunity for attempting an improvement in the organization of anatomical instruction presented itself when the medical faculty of Chulalankarana University at Bangkok was raised to the status of a modern school by the Siamese government with the cooperation of the Rockefeller Foundation. There were made available good housing and an adequate supply of dissecting material, equipment, technical help, and teachers. The artistic talent of our Siamese assistants and technicians, their powers of patient application, and the delicacy and flexibility of their hands rendered them unusually efficient in the preparation of charts, dissections, and models.
The changes which were introduced into the teaching of anatomy have been directed toward two chief ends. The first is a determination of the order of dissection most suitable for rendering the facts of gross anatomy clear and easily comprehended, and the second, which is dependent upon the first for its accomplishment, is the bringing together of the gross, microscopic, and developmental anatomy of each organ to form a united picture in the student's mind. The resulting scheme may seem a disrespectful treatment of the traditional divisions of anatomy. Three years of experience with it, 323
