It is shown'that the condition rwxx being a minimum with respect to Flz corresponds to setting Lzl = 0 in XY2 bern symmetric molecules. Expressions for the r,&6 elements under this condition invo!ve only the molecular geometry, atomic ma.sses and fundamental vii?rational frequencies. The -raag elements calculated within this approximation compare favourably with the experimental values for hydride molecules.
