✦ Synopsis

An approximate formula for the fundamental frequency of thin elastic plates is presented. In order to estimate the degree of accuracy of this approximation the computed frequencies are compared with values computed by more exact analysis for several different plates with combinations of clamped and simply supported boundary conditions.
