Abstract

This paper proposes a method for protein name extraction from biological texts. Our method exploits handโ€crafted rules based on heuristics and a set of protein names (dictionary). In contrast to previously proposed methods, our approach avoids the use of natural language processing tools such as partโ€ofโ€speech taggers and syntactic parsers so as to improve processing speed. We implemented a prototype system for protein name extraction based on our method and conducted evaluation experiments. The result showed that our system produces outcome comparable to the stateโ€ofโ€theโ€art protein name extraction system on multiple corpora.

## Abstract This paper offers a stepโ€byโ€step analysis of a heuristic approach to scenario planning, taking a managerial perspective. The scenario method is contrasted in general with more traditional planning techniques, which tend to perform less well when faced with high uncertainty and complexit

High resolution two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2-D PAGE) is a powerful research tool for the analytical separation of cellular proteins. The qualitative and quantitative pattern of polypeptides synthesized by a cell represents its phenotype and thus defines characteristics such
