β¦ Synopsis
A practical approach for impact structure and crashworthiness optimization is introduced. This approach takes advantage of the global-searching ability of GA, yet also considers the instability of explicit "nite element analysis. A numerical example was solved and the result was compared with the result obtained by traditional NLP. The result showed that global searching cannot be ignored at least in the current example. The approach shows promise in implementing impact structure optimization.
