✦ Synopsis

The potentiometer R2 is used for preliminary balancing of the circuit. The oscillator frequency is controlled by changing the inductance on the core of Trt. As a balanced circuit is used, frequency and amplitude instabilities of the oscillator have little effect on the functioning of the level gauge.

For checking the working of the gauge there is a push-button K which connects a capacity of 5 pF in parallel with the probe capacity, simulating the in-crease in capacity on immersing the probe in liquid helium. The batteries are connected into the circuit by press contacts so that they can easily be changed. The case containing the measuring circuit is 45 x 65 x 100 mm 3.
