## Abstract Orexins (hypocretins) are neuropeptides produced by a small population of hypothalamic neurons whose dysregulation may lead to narcolepsy, a neurological disorder characterized by disorganization of sleep and wakefulness. Excessive stimulation of the N‐methyl‐D‐aspartate (NMDA) subtype
