✦ Synopsis

In the structure of the title compound, 1-(4-cyanobenzyl)-4-methylpyridinium 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethanide, C~14~H~13~N~2~
^+^·[C~8~H~4~(CN)~4~]^−^, the asymmetric unit contains one cation and one anion. Intra- and intermolecular C—H...N hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions seem to be effective in the stabilization of the crystal structure.
