Born half-angel, half-vampire, Jess can benefit from both sides of her heritage, if she can hide her true identify from those in the preternatural community trying to kill her by draining her unique and powerful blood. An attack in her home by vampires at age seventeen leaves her homeless and running for her life. Circumstances determining her choice of career over the years, Jess eventually becomes a sought after mercenary.
After another attempt on her life, this time by human assassins looking to off their competition, Jess moves to the outskirts of Phoenix, hoping to utilize the overpowering sunshine as protection against vampires trying to kill her.
Life seems to be going well for her until an undead, gorgeous vampire walks into her favorite nightclub, leaving her body humming in anticipation of his touch. Her mind goes on vacation, taking with it, her sense of self-preservation.
Despite her adamant proclaims that she will not date a vampire, this vampire seems to reach inside and touch a part of her that no one has ever touched before. Fate is determined to keep their paths crossing, regardless of her weakening attempts to flee from his touch.
When she finds out his psychotic sire and her mother’s murderer are the same, she has to decide if she can trust this vampire with her deepest secret and do what her mind, body and heart want her to do, or try hunting this dangerous vampire and his small army on her own.
