✦ Synopsis

Following Williams [1] and Erdogan [2], Keer and Yahsi investigated the stress distribution at the interface of two infinite strips bonded in a finite region and gave many numerical results [3,4,5]. Here we present an analytical solution (not only at the interface, but also in the whole field) for the same problem (Fig. 1). Our work also partly meets the needs of the artificial crack theory of the recently developed crack technique [6,7,8].

An integral transform method is used to obtain stress distributions in cracked symmetric two-dimensional projections extending out of the half plane. The case considered includes two collinear external Griffith cracks located at the root of the projection. Two loaded cases are considered. Numerical
