We propose a procedure to describe three-dimensional atom-diatom collision processes in the framework of the vibron model. We present results in the limit of one-dimensional collisions.

β¦ Synopsis
An analytical method of calculating the energy transfer in classical, collinear atom-diatom collisions, based on the use of power-series expansions in the parameter w7 (o is the frequency of the molecular vibrations, 7 is an effective coihsion time) is presented. This method is applicable also for cases, when the mass of the incoming atom is not small compared to the masses of the atoms bound in the molecule. The possibility of extending this approach to three-dimensional collisions is ako discussed.
