✦ Synopsis

A 1.0% solution of ALKS1, an alkaloidal extract obtained from Trophis racemosa, produced a significant fall in intraocular pressure in the dog's eye (p < 0.001). The fall was antagonized by atropine (p < 0.0025), suggesting ALKS1 is acting through a muscarinic mode of action. Further purifcation of the extract is required to determine the actual compound producing this effect on the eye.
