✦ Synopsis

An algorithm is described for calculating the probability distribution of the number of mutant colonies arising in a Luria-Delbrtick fluctuation experiment subject to a plating efficiency of less than 100%. A table is constructed to facilitate the estimation of spontaneous mutation rates taking into account the plating efficiency.
