β¦ Synopsis
The additive Schwarz method is developed for constructing preconditioner of the linear equation from a discretization of the plate bending problem. The condition numbers of the preconditioned systems are shown to be bounded independent of mesh sizes in the case of a generous overlap, the number of subdomains and the thickness of the plate.
