✦ Synopsis
A companion paper (A. Rubaai and V. Udo, Electr. Power Syst. Res., 24 (1992) 183-188) discusses a control strategy for identification and functional design. In order to consolidate the validity of the proposed control, this paper describes its algorithmic implementation. The philosophy of the proposed control framework is based on the hierarchical configuration and is implemented using the minimum-variance control technique to satisfy a variety of performance objectives. The adaptive controller is synthesized on the basis of an autoregressive moving average model identified by using the recursive least-square model and is installed on individual subsystems. The feasibility of this control scheme is investigated on the 20-machine, ll8-bus IEEE test system. Extensive simulations are performed under a variety of conditions.
