✦ Synopsis


The staggered soliton mode, which was first discovered in polyacetylene, was observed by Lou et al. in a one-dimensional nonlinear pendulum-lattice. Some recurrence phenomena of the amplitude of the staggered mode in a macro-lattice system are investigated. The experimental result shows that the amplitude of the envelope soliton changes periodically or quasiperiodically under suitable excited parameters. In addition, a period doubling bifurcation is also observed.
