โฆ Synopsis
Ammonium zinc phosphate, (NH 4 )Zn(HPO 4 )(H 2 PO 4 ), is built up from inยฎnite 4-ring chains of vertex-sharing ZnO 4 and (H/ H 2 )PO 4 tetrahedra [d av (ZnรO) = 1.943 (2) A ร and d av (PรO) = 1.534 (2) A ร ] crosslinked by ammonium cations. The intrachain OรHร ร รO hydrogen bond appears to be essentially symmetric [d(Oร ร รO) = 2.442 (3) A ร ].

The asymmetric unit of the compound (NH 4 ) 7 (HPO 4 ) 2 (PO 4 ) consists of two hydrogen phosphate anions, one phosphate anion and seven ammonium cations, all of them located in general positions. The two [PO 3 (OH)] 2ร anions are linked to the PO 4 3ร anion via an O-Hร ร รO hydrogen bond to form a
