Abstract
The Hofmann‐Löffler sequence of reactions applied to 18‐methylamino‐5α‐pregnan‐3β‐ol led to Sα‐heteroconan‐3β‐ol (11, 20B~F~ or 20R configuration) and to 5α‐conan‐3β‐ol (12, 20α~F~ or 20S configuration, as in natural conanine derivatives) in a ratio of 8 to 1, to the exclusion of any other nitrogen containing cyclic system.
