โœฆ Synopsis

Derivatives of the ambident nucleophiles (Mez-CHO),POK (X = S, Se) have been prepared with the following: V(IV), Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Co(III), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Zr(IV), Pd(II), Ag(I), Cd(II), Hg(II), Sn(II), Sn(IV), Pb(II), P(III), As(III), Sb(III), Bi(III), Se(II), Te(II), Th(IV), and U( VI). Structural deductions are made on the basis of 31P n.m.r. and electronic spectra. When X = S, [(Mez-CHO)zPOS] a, [(Me&HO),POS] ,Hg and [(Mez-CHO)2POS]zSe are the thiol isomers, and [(Mez-CHO)zPOS]$ is the thione isomer: [(Me2CHO),-POS] zTe exists in two forms having thiol and bidentare ligands, while all other derivatives contain bidentate (bridging or chelating) linands. When X = Se. derivatkes of Hg(II), As(Iji), Sb(III0,

and Te(II) are selenol isomers: all bidentate (Me2CHO)2POSe groups.
