Photodegradation of CLP HC1 seemed to be more dependent on the presence of water than dissolved oxygen, and it would not be expected that elimination of oxygen alone would have a marked effect on the degradation of ultraviolet irradiated solutions of CLP HCI at 253.5 mp.
