China to add 358 000MW of FGD capacity by 2020 C hina's installed capacity of flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems is set to increase from 365 000 MW this year to 723 000 MW in 2020 according to the McIlvaine Co's FGD World Markets report.

The US$100 billion investment represents a huge potential for suppliers of slurry pumps, mixers, alloy steel, valves, limestone, ball mills, nozzles, fans and many other components and consumables.

China will add 32 000 MW of FGD per year over the next 11 years. This represents 75% of all the new FGD to be installed worldwide each year.

McIlvaine notes that there are now a number of Chinese companies offering components for FGD systems, including the very large and smaller pumps.
