The Whiting modernization program will equip the refinery to process more Canadian heavy crude oil and increase motor fuel production. Jacobs' portion of the program focuses on the sulphur recovery complex, which includes multiple new sulphur recovery units, tail gas units, amines units and sour water strippers as well as significant modifications to existing units, utilities and control systems.
Jacobs is executing engineering, procurement, and construction management services out of its Baton Rouge office, and its fabrication services out of its Charleston, South Carolina modular shop.
