Une partie de chasse dans les Highlands écossaises tourne au règlement
de comptes entre l'inspecteur Aloysius Pendergast du FBI et son
beau-frère Judson Esterhazy.
Au terme d'une lutte acharnée, Esterhazy
laisse Pendergast pour mort... après lui avoir révélé que sa soeur

dans un accident de chasse en Afrique ! Elle vit toujours... Judson
