✦ Synopsis

Properties of acid centers in AINaZSM-5 zeolites were studied by recording low-temperature i.r. spectra of adsorbed CO. Only a small amount of sodium in NaZSM-5 zeolite can be exchanged for aluminum cations. The majority of inserted aluminum cations occurs in the form of an "aluminum oxide/ hydroxide" phase because the content of nonskeletal A13+ is very low.

The direct treatment of NaZSM-5 zeolite with aluminum salt solution without an intermediate ammonium form was applied to obtain as neutral AINaZSM-5 zeolites as possible. It was possible to prepare very weakly acidic, or almost neutral samples, using the parent zeolite neutralized by an exchange wit
