✦ Synopsis
NOTICES OF BOOKS 351 stressed, and many valuable practical points are presented from the author's great cxpcriencc with a view t o their prevention. The special difficulties and dangers associated with each region of the body are, in turn, fully considered-so fully, in fact, that it is not easy to conceive of many further mishaps than those here instanced that are ever likely to bc met with. The volume will serve a most useful purpose if only it will tend t o deter the undertaking of major operations by men relatively incompetent t o perform them. While we can assure all progressive surgeons that they will find much of interest and profit in this volume, yet it is certainly one that should not be permitted t o fall into lay hands.
