✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Allergen‐induced histamine secretion in mast cells, obtained from rats infected with Nippostrongylus brasiliensis, was detected by a ^1^H NMR semi‐selective excitation technique. Lactate production was also detected in association with histamine secretion as observed in mast cells stimulated with other nonimmunological agents, such as compound 48/80, poly‐myxin B, and melittin. The assignment of the lactate resonance was confirmed using lactate oxidase. Thus, ^1^H NMR spectroscopy is a useful method to study the activation of mast cells in allergic reaction.
