Fifteen autosomal STR loci were analyzed in 223 healthy individuals belonging to three remote, isolated Tibeto-Burman speaking sub tribes namely, Panggi, Komkar and Padam of Adi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, India. in Sunni Muslims were found to deviate significantly from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The power of discrimination of the analyzed markers was found to be high for the populations, thereby facilitating the validation and efficiency of these STR markers in human identification.
