Paula had always been different from her school friends; to start with she was never as clever. They all went off to college or university after leaving school and she went straight into work for a major Hotel chain starting out as a waitress just to earn some money to move out of her parent's house for her own independence. Paula was also different from her friends in another way as she was Gay. This didn't go down to well with her parents so the job helped her to be able to move into a cheap bedsit as at the time that was all she was able to afford. Now over ten years has passed and Paula is now the Assistant Manager of the same hotel chain, but now she is working and living in her one-bedroom apartment on the south coast. Paula loved this time of year, the long hot summers with an assortment of guests staying in a full hotel. Plus, this meant the hotel needed to employ extra staff for the busy summer period, and Paula couldn't wait to see who she was going to be working alongside "All Summer long".
