✦ Synopsis
Efficient continuous-wave intracavity frequency doubling of a diode-end-pumped Nd:GdVO4 laser operating on 4 F 3/2 -4 I 11/2 transitions at 1083 nm (generally used for a 1063 nm emission) has been demonstrated for the first time. With 18.7 W of diode pump power and the frequency-doubling crystal LiB3O5 (LBO), as high as 2.14 W of continuous-wave output power at 541.5 nm is achieved, corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 11.4% with respect to the incident pump power; the output power stability over 4 h is better than 3.5%. The laser beam quality M 2 factors are 1.65 and 1.71 in both horizontal and vertical dimensions respectively.
Output power at 541.5 nm, W 1.
