✦ Synopsis

Kerr-like nonlinearity has key role both in monolithic
and hybrid optical integrated circuits. For digital optical signal
processing, we need all optical monolithic logic gates. For
realization of digital optical integrated circuits (DOIC), the
optical limiter is one of the important and considerable unit. In
this paper, we present a new structure for a 4-bit full optical
coding system (Limiter) for all optical analog to digital
converter (A/D) using Kerr-like nonlinear two-port ring resonator.
By controlling the system parameters such as the coupling, the
loss coefficients and the ring length, we propose a suitable
optical coding circuit, which operates similar to comparator
devices. Our proposed idea can be easily realized by integrated
optical circuit techniques (OIC).

## Abstract A fiber‐optic combined serial‐to‐parallel and digital‐to‐analog converter is proposed and demonstrated. The system is based on bit interleaving and cross‐gain modulation in a semiconductor optical amplifier. The demonstrated 3‐bit digital converter operates at 2 Gb/s, however, the propo
