Abstract

African Americans have faced adversity at every step in their quest to realize the ideal of the Declaration of Independence that β€œall men are created equal.” The history of African Americans in the United States is marked with incidents of racially charged violence and unfair treatment. This article explores the struggle of African Americans in the United States, from their forced immigration to the present. It drives home the point that the United States must eradicate racism and racial inequality to become a nation in which all people truly are created equal.
