β¦ Synopsis
New types of solid acid (catalysts HaPOa-BF,-H2SOI supported on Si02 and ZrO, were prepared. They showed high activity, selectivity and stability for the alkylation of isobutane with butenes. The nature of the active sites on the new catalysts was discussed on the basis of the characterizations by IR spectroscopy, thermal ana1ysi.s and the measurement of acidic properties. The inductive effect of BF, enhances the strength of the acid sites on the catalysts, and the presence of H&80, causes a remarkable increase in the number of strong acid sites.
