โฆ Synopsis
Everyone has to take a leap of faith at some point in their life, shouted Alice over her shoulder as she jumped out of the train window and into the cold mist.
Alice is torn between staying at home to tend to her sick father and moving to London to study at college. Her mind is more on pills and packing than distant memories of Wonderland. So to be catapulted back to a dystopian world where everything is the complete opposite of her orderly life is the last thing she expects. Or needs.
Alice is smarter and savvier this time around. Which is just as well, as Wonderland bears little resemblance to its former self. Animals are forbidden to talk, the townsfolk live in fear of a tyrant and the weathers all mixed up. Could a Jabberwocky be behind it all? One thing hasnt changed; Alices curiosity and attitude might just be the death of her if she cant find her way back.
Alice in Wonderland meets The Twilight Zone. Propelled forward by a tapestry of gritty word-play and the dark origins of our favourite nursery rhymes, DJ Stonehams debut fantasy novel will thrill younger and older adults alike.

Review
**" Stoneham imbues his prose with a wit and poetry that do ample justice to his source material. An ideal fantasy for Carroll fans and a lovely route to a treasured piece of literature ***for newcomers."* blueink review, January, 2019
"** Debut author Stoneham does a stellar job of re-creating Carroll's beloved world while also adding his own twists. A brilliant and amusing reinvention."** Kirkus Review, February, 2019
"Fantastical wonders and head-over-heels adventures abound in D. J.Stoneham's fantasy novel Alice Falls Again. The language is light andplayful, even in the darker moments of the story. Sentences are rhythmic, attimes even poetic and musical. Written in a joyful tone, the text is laced withjust enough sarcasm and joviality to keep it from becoming saccharine." Foreword Clarion, April, 2019
From the Author
From the outset, I wanted to respect the linear journey, astounding word play and quirkiness of the original Alice books. But I also wanted to make it clear this wasn't a copy. The book has its own characters and settings, the sinister back stories to common nursery rhymes and subtle links to some of the challenges and injustices we face in today's society.
There are of course several nods to Lewis Carroll's epic works, among them, the undercurrent of twisted fantasy and a healthy dose of word-play in the dialogue. And not surprisingly, the main character is Alice, who during her journey has to confront some facets of ongoing changes in her own character. The Cheshire Cat is also sometimes present (well, parts of him) but all other characters are new.
Elements, which I would like to think make Alice Falls Again unique, are how events and characters are driven by the dark history behind our favourite nursery rhymes; how the menace in this dystopian Wonderland maintains an air of innocence; and how Alice learns a thing or two about herself and the nature of things along the way.
So who might enjoy this book? Any adult or young adult who appreciates fantasy, likes word-play, has read the original Wonderland books or remembers nursery rhymes. Imagine David Lynch teamed up with Roald Dahl to write a new chapter in the life of Alice.
