✦ Synopsis

This book presents a version of the modern theory of Toeplitz, Hankel and other classes of structured matrices. These classes play an important role in many problems of pure and applied character. Fast algorithms of inversion, rank and signature and root localization, connections with Bezutian and resultant matrices, and Liapunov and Stein equations, genenera1ized LU factorization are the main topics of the first part of the book. In this part Toeplitz and Hankel matrices are the main subject while the second part of the book deals with finite or infinite matrices which are Toeplitz-like. The Wiener-Hopf and singular integral operators are also considered. Here the main topic are inversion formulae, structure of the kernel and analysis of the partial indices. The book is reasonabli self-contained and it gives a unified approach to many different problems in the area. It is addressed to a wide audience and can be used a a text book for graduate and senior undegraduate students.
