The system will use both media filters and nanofiltration membrane technology to remove inorganics and soften the water, improving its quality. Osmonics and Tonka Equipment each have experience supplying municipal water treatment systems, and this project represents their first joint effort in supplying a turnkey system.

Tonka Equipment is an authorised integrator of Osmonics membrane systems. Tonka Equipment will supply the media filtration system and installation of the entire system, and Osmonics will manufacture the nanofiltration machine and membranes. This project will be completed in July 1998.

Tonka Equipment has designed and manufactured municipal and industrial water systems for more than 40 years, with over 1300 installations worldwide.

INTERNATIONAL PAPER DIVESTS VERATEC

International Paper has completed the sale of its Veratec nonwovens business to the BBA Group plc of London in a transaction valued at US$282 million.

In July 1997, International Paper announced that it planned to sell US$1 billion in assets. With the sale of Veratec, this plan has now concluded.

Veratec, headquarted in Walpole, Massachusetts, has more than 1200 employees worldwide and is a designer and manufacturer of nonwoven fabrics that are used in filtration, aerospace, automotive, apparel, medical, electrical and disposable diaper applications.
