Me2AlSPh or Me2AlSeMe adds to a,B-unsaturated carbonyl compounds in 1,4-fashion. The resulting aluminium enolates react with aldehydes effectively to afford the adducts of the title anion after formal PhSH(or MeSeH) -elimination.
