✦ Synopsis

Polymers were examined as the binders in the preparation of DL-alanine dosimeters to improve the dosimetric versatility. Ethylene-propylene rubber, polyethylene and polystyrene were selected as binders, and dosimetric characteristics of the polymer-alanine dosimeters were investigated by irradiation with "Co y rays in the absorbed dose range lO*to 3 x IO4 Gy. The results show that the additions of polymers do not change the dose-response, although they increase the pre-dose ESR amplitude of the dosimeter to some extent. The dosimeters were found to have a small degree of dispersion of dose reading and good stability at normal ambient temperatures, although there is appreciable loss of ESR signal over several days' storage at elevated temperature (80 "C and above).
