to 3,300 m, on l 3 flights over various parts of the Pacific Ocean and continental United States. Mthough samples varied considerably at those altitudes, there appeared to be little difference in concentration or composition of air biota over the ocean and over the continental United States, which indicated a rather stable population. Cladosporium was the most consistently present fungus, but AIternaria, ascospores, hyphal fragments, pollen, and rust urediospores were collected on most flights.
