✦ Synopsis

A new species of T,imnomedusae belonging to the genus Aglauropsis F. M~z.mL 1865, is described from the coastal waters off Rio Grando do Sul, Brazil. The new species belongs to the family Olindiasidae. It is named Aglauropsis h~wari sp. n. and differs from the other species of the genus by the number of tentacles and statocyst~ and, mainly, by the shape and position of the gonads. The possibility of AgIaurops/s agass/zi ~Iffr,Ta~m, t865 and A. ~awar/sp. n. being synonyms is discussed. The vague description of the former dooB not permit r assumption.
