โœฆ Synopsis

The e โ€ ect of physical ageing on the electrical properties, such as thermally stimulated discharge currents (TSDC) and conduction currents, of ethyl cellulose (EC) has been analysed. The TSDC thermograms of EC samples, poled with 100 kV cm~1 at di โ€ erent poling temperatures (i.e. 50, 70 and 90ยกC) consist of two peaks located at 70 ^5ยกC and 110 ^5ยกC, respectively. The conductivity measurements were made over a time period of 101รˆ103 min in the temperature range 30รˆ125ยกC with a poling รeld of 100 kV cm~1. It has been observed that physical ageing considerably a โ€ ects the magnitude of the thermally stimulated depolarization and conduction currents of EC รlms. This ageing e โ€ ect, which has been attributed to continuous vitriรcation of a polymer, is considered to enhance the life-time of a polymer electret.

The change in the water permeability, glass transition temperatures, and mechanical properties of ethyl cellulose with different degrees of substitution are presented. Studies of the hydroxyl group content on the polymer chains indicate that the mechanical properties of a free film decrease as the h

The effects of aging on polyethylene film deposited by radiofrequency sputtering on a quartz crystal microbalance were examined by measuring its resonance frequency and conductance, and by measuring the contact angle of the film to distilled water. The film sputtering was observed using in situ opti

## Abstract The swelling behavior of ethylโ€cyanoethyl cellulose [(Eโ€CE)C]/crosslinked poly(acrylic acid) [PAA] cholesteric liquid crystalline composite films and the structural variation of the cholesteric phase during the swelling and the drying process were studied. It was found that the waveleng
