Overview: Taken by a Thug tells the story of Aubrey, a young and successful black woman who is pursuing her Masterβs degree. For the practical leg of her graduate coursework, she begins to work in the field with kids from a disadvantaged neighborhood. It is then that she meets Antoine, a notorious black man from the neighborhood who has a reputation of being feared for many reasons. But when she ends up talking to him at length about Mikaela, one of the kids sheβs trying to help, she is surprised to learn that his intimidating demeanor is a major contrast to his intelligence, kindness and charisma. When he offers to help her get through to Mikaela, they end up bonding and eventually falling in love.
