Abstract
The socioeconomic situation in Africa, the poorest continent in the world, is described. In an era of globalization, the progressing economic stratification between North and South Africa and the dictatorships present in a number of African countries cannot be tolerated. New economic solutions for stimulating industrial development in Africa are proposed. Β© 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hum Factors Man 15: 127β132, 2005.
