AFLAC is an international insurance organization whose principal subsidiary is American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus. In addition to life, and health & accident insurance, Co. has pioneered cancer‐expense and intensive‐care insurance coverage. Co.'s subsidiary Communicorp specializes in printing, advertising, audio‐visuals, sales incentives, business meetings and mailings. As of Feb 2 2004, Co. insured more than 40.0 million people worldwide, and offered policies to employees through 288,100 payroll accounts. Also, Co. insures one out of four Japanese households and is the largest life insurer in Japan in terms of individual policies in force.
