โฆ Synopsis
Burgmann Dichtungswerke GmbH & Co KG has introduced an extension of the MDS diagnosis system that enables the continuous monitoring of seals.
The MDS system is mounted on the pump and operates self-sufficiently. Once installed it monitors the seal, calculates the remaining service life and draws attention to critical operating conditions. It is also possible to monitor several seals in parallel by networking the individual monitoring units.
The new system, known as MDSnet, logs the temperature of each individual seal seat as well as the temperature and pressure of the sealed fluid. A data converter transforms the sensor signals into digital form, temporarily stores them in a web server, and subsequently feeds them, by Ethernet connection, to a computer where they are coordinated and analyzed.
In addition to the calculated service life, the software also provides a time history graph of the individual values so that they can be checked over a 12 month period. The MDSnet permits monitoring of the data on the condition of seals regardless of location.
Other features include:
โข can be installed in line with ATEX 95;
โข modular structure for easy expansion;
โข warning system with green, amber and red lights; โข central monitoring of any number of seals; โข permits planning of preventitive maintenance; โข early detection of malfunction; โข optional automatic safety shutdown; โข permanent logging of the seal operating conditions; and โข failure anaysis data available after shutdown.
