โฆ Synopsis
A collection of papers on microlocal analysis, Fourier analysis in the complex domain, generalized functions and related topics. Most of the papers originate from the talks given at the conference "Prospects of Generalized Functions" (held in November 2001 at RIMS, Kyoto). Reflecting the fact that the papers are dedicated to Mitsuo Morimoto, the subjects considered in this book are interdisciplinary, just as Morimoto's works are. The historical backgrounds of the subjects in some of the papers are also discussed in depth. Thus, the volume should be valuable not only to the specialists in the fields, but also to those who are interested in the history of modern mathematics such as distributions and hyperfunctions Mathematical aspects of supersonic flow past wings, S-X. Chen; the null condition and global existence of solutions to systems of wave equations with different speeds, R. Agemi, K. Yokoyama; scaling limits for large systems of interacting particles, K. Uchiyama; regularity of solutions of initial boundary value problems for symmetric hyperbolic systems with boundary characteristic of constant multiplicity, Y. Yamamoto; on the half-space problem for the discrete velocity model of the Boltzmann equation, S. Ukai; on a decay rate of solutions to the one-dimensional thermoplastic equations of a half line - linear part, Y. Shibata; bifurcation phenomena for the Duffing equation, a. Matsumura; some remarks on the compactness method, A.V. Kazhikhov; percolation on fractal lattices - asymptotic behaviour of the correlation length, M. Shinoda. (Part contents)

The study of measure-valued processes in random environments has seen some intensive research activities in recent years whereby interesting nonlinear stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) were derived. Due to the nonlinearity and the non-Lipschitz continuity of their coefficients, new t
What distinguishes differential geometry in the last half of the twentieth century from its earlier history is the use of nonlinear partial differential equations in the study of curved manifolds, submanifolds, mapping problems, and function theory on manifolds, among other topics. The differential
