β¦ Synopsis
This chapter deals with the production of wet-spun man-made fi bers. In this context, major commercially available wet-spun fi bers are discussed. The principles of wet spinning, including extrusion, coagulation, and drawing stages are described. Parameters affecting polymer solution and spinning process which, in turn, determine the resultant fi ber behavior and performance, are briefl y explained. Special attention is given to acrylic and cuprammonium fi ber production and resultant fi ber characteristics. End-use properties of wet-spun fi bers are also evaluated. Finally, new developments in the wet-spun fi ber production and future prospects are outlined.
