✦ Synopsis

Molecular dynamics simulations of melittin at high dilution near a fully hydrated bilayer membrane composed ofPOPC lipids have been performed for a total time of 1.36 ns. It is shown that melittin adsorbs to the membrane. In the adsorbed state the protein exhibits a well defined conformation and orientation with respect to the membrane surface which are stable during the whole period of simulation.
