β¦ Synopsis
The effect of iodide ion on the polarization of iron in air-free aqueous sulphuric acid has been investigated in solutions containing (C2H,),NI and KI. Data for the surface coverage have been calculated from the observed cathodic shift. The Langmuir isotherm has been found to fit the results at low surface coverage. At high coverage, deviations from the Langmuir model have been observed, and these have been explained as a result of repulsion interaction. The results have been compared with those obtained using a typical amine-type inhibitor.
